The game is played by 4 players in fixed partnerships, with partners facing each other. The objective of the game is to win tricks containing valuable cards, with the total number of points in the deck being 29.
The game uses 32 cards from a standard 52-card pack, with 8 cards in each of the usual suits: Spades, Hearts, Clubs, and Diamonds. The cards in every suit rank from high to low: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. Jacks and nines are the highest cards in every suit, followed by ace and ten. Aces and tens are worth 1 point each, while jacks and nines are worth 3 and 2 points, respectively. Other cards, including kings, queens, eights, and sevens, have no point value.
